Yet another young black male is killed by the police in Minneapolis. While in the custody of the Minneapolis police department, George Floyd was choked to death while being held on the ground by a police officer.
You could hear George Floyd and bystanders in the background begging for his life before he died a few hours later and people are outraged across the country.
This is the third “accidental” death of an African-American that has taken place in the past few weeks. The four officers involved were all fired, however, none have been charged in Floyd’s death.
Hundreds took to the streets last night to protest Floyd’s death but it turned violent last night with protestors throwing rocks at police cars and police throwing tear gas at protestors.
Several celebrities expressed their outrage at once again another black male being targeted for apparently no real reason. Police came to arrest Floyd for forgery and the police claim he resisted arrest, but witnesses seem to contradict the police report.
Former WNBA star Lisa Leslie also expressed her disdain about what had taken place on Twitter.
“If anybody that follows me is not outraged about these senseless attacks on BLACK MEN, please stop following me! If your spirit is not disturbed, please stop following me! This inflicted Pain but it will never inflict FEAR… sorry, were not made like that!” #BlackMenMatter
The sad part about this situation besides Floyd’s death is, that had it not been filmed, the officers involved may have gotten away with murder and that’s something Floyd’s family hope doesn’t happen and that the four ex officers involved, will pay for their crime.
“I would like for those officers to be charged with murder because that’s exactly what they did. They murdered my brother; he was crying for help,” Floyd’s sister Bridgett said on the “TODAY” Show Wednesday, adding that the loss of her brother was “heartbreaking” for her family.
