Famous hip hop singers Drake and Chris Brown have been sued by Brandon Cooper and Timothy Valentine who go by names Mr. Cooper and Drum’n Skillz respectively, for copyright infringement.
The Accusation
Drake and Chris Brown have been accused for copying ‘I Love Your Dress’ to create their song ‘No Guidance’.
In their claim, Valentine and Cooper mentioned that their song ‘I Love Your Dress’ was released three years before ‘No Guidance’ that Drake and Chris Brown released in June, 2019. The two also claimed that the beat, rhythmic structure and hook of ‘No Guidance’ was copied from their song.
More than Just Copyright Infringement
Both Cooper and Drum’n Skillz blamed Drake and Chris Brown of taunting them in the line from their song ‘flew in the coop’, where the word Coop according to them is Coopers nickname.
‘No Guidance’
Drake and Chris Brown’s ‘No Guidance’ has more than 373 million views on YouTube and a whooping 693 million streams on Spotify.
The hit song was also nominated for the Grammy Awards, 2020. The song also rose to Number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
