The original version of the song topped out at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, became RIAA Certified Gold record and was the 22-year-old rapper’s most successful song to date.
Jack Harlow starts off the track with the same signature flow that made the original version a success.
Back with the Remix
These boys Are My son like Phoenix
My city and state never ever seen this
Jimmy Neutron I’m a Young Boy Genius
DaBaby follows up with a decent verse, but it sounds like a verse we’ve heard from him at least a dozen times. Torey Lanez, on the other hand, absolutely slays the track.
Hop out that scat and I called out
I’m out here with somebody daughter
She callin’ me daddy, I’m somebody father
I gotta go gets it, or when I go kiss it
I put my lips on it like somebody water
Every bar of Torey Lanez’s verse was straight fire both lyrically and flow-wise.
Lil Wayne ends out the song with a cruise control verse. His rhymes aren’t bad but it’s ultimately forgettable.
I’ll be patiently waiting on an edit that only includes Jack Harlow and Torey Lanez. While Lil Wayne and DaBaby were decent enough, they don’t add anything to the song to make it better than the original.
Given the star power, the “Whats Poppin Remix” it might perform well, but I doubt that it will capture the same success as the original version.
