LeBron James Wanted To Play For The Cowboys During The Lockout

Some of you may not know this but not only is LeBron James an outstanding basketball player, but he was also at one point, a great football player too. King James was a pretty good football player back in his younger days.

LeBron Talks About Wanting To Play Football For The Dallas Cowboys

James said a few years ago during the 2011 NBA lockout, he thought about returning to football and playing in the NFL. He was even offered a contract by Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, which is his favorite team.

James talked about returning to football on the Uninterrupted podcast. As the lockout continued, he started training for the NFL. He said he started bench pressing, sled pushing, and timing his 40 times in order to prepare himself to play in the league.

“The thoughts came into my mind,” James said. “I had no idea how long the lockout was going to be.”

James says to this day, he still dreams about playing ball in the NFL.

“It’s crazy because I actually never run on the field in my dreams,” James said. “It always gets to the point where I’m either in the locker room or getting dressed or talking about or seeing the fans and as soon as I’m about to run on the field, something else happens in my dream. It’s like something that it always happens like that.”

Two-star athletes are not unheard of in this day and age, both Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson played football and baseball back in the day, however, it would be darn near impossible for LeBron James to participate in both football and basketball mainly because of the schedule conflict but never say never.

In the podcast, LeBron also talked about NBA stars being ready to start playing basketball again but stated that there is still a lot of uncertainty in regards to how that will be done given the pandemic situation.
